From Crushed to Elevated

From Crushed to Elevated

By: Kasia Chatman

You know the saying, “There is always sunshine after the storm.”

We say it often, but do we truly believe it?

In reality, we all experience a crushing season or a “storm” in our life. Whether if it is losing a loved one. Losing a child. Losing a job. Getting a divorce. Going through depression. Going through anxiety. Going through addiction. Going through bankruptcy. Being abused, verbally or physically. All in all, just losing a part of ourselves.

The enemy would have us to believe that the crushing we are experiencing is a result of God punished us for our past or that He is not present in our lives. I have some good news.

The devil has been lying to you.

The crushing you are experiencing is not for your destruction, but for your elevation.

In his new book, “Crushing,” Bishop T.D. Jakes explains this by stating, “Amazingly enough, however, what if our God is so powerful, so good, and so loving that He turns the tables on the tares and uses them to make us stronger, truer, and more dependent on Him.”

Do you know what this means? This means you are not being crushed for the things you did or because God is angry with you. You are being crushed because God is using it to fulfil his purpose through you.

We know this from the story of Job. God allowed Job to go through a crushing season, but he BLESSED the latter part of Job’s life MORE than the former part.

Do NOT focus so much on the parts of your life that were crushed that you miss the elevation God is trying to do within your life. There IS always sunshine after a storm.

1 Peter 5:10

And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.

2 Corinthians 4:17

For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.
